Random thoughts after 16 hours

Hi, so…

  • lack of a way to trash items
  • lack of saplings, or any other way to regrow the cut trees, making you move the deforestation of your island farther and farther away from your village
  • lack of a way to simply delete the whole plot instead of running around to unpaint it
  • Lighthouse burns through wood too fast, yet it’s enough just to use 1 wood to make the buff work for the day
  • Lighting is stackable, place 8 torches next to each other to feel the ultimate power of the sun
  • carpets block workers’ pathfinding
  • lack of an apiary and/or beekeeper profession
  • roof pieces are wonky and won’t connect properly
  • if beds are placed on the same spot at different heights, you can’t assign villagers to them properly
  • workers need to be in front of the stockpile to pick and deposit items from it
  • what’s the point of the sign on the stockpile if it won’t display what you assigned it to be
  • lacking the ability to rotate objects without breaking them
  • the food system is rather unintuitive, the info on the map doesn’t really explain much, and it feels like the buff from reputation doesn’t affect it at all
  • and to add to that, the sleep system, it’s better to wait until the last second to go to bed because workers eat a set amount of food, yet they take their time producing it, so skipping part of the evening seems counterproductive
  • no blinking… not even closing your eyes when going to sleep :V
  • the tool system seems rather punishing with how slow they are made by workers and how fast workers burn through them
  • all the packlings are called Henry
  • lack of tooltips
  • stackable food buffs, or should I be able to have 3x berry buff for the ultimate speed
  • some things feel unreasonably expensive, like a chair being 10 logs, which translates to 40 planks, which is again enough to make a table
  • lack of click and drag field deletion
  • make the candles placable

I guess that would be it, I think I’ve covered some of those in the survey. Could also add the need for more cosmetic items and decorations, but I guess that’s some irrelevant at this point ^^

The good thing is that this list pretty closely matches what I heard from others. I agree with pretty much all points, it’s just a question of when we get to them.

I can tell you that the item trashing will be in Alpha 4 and the carpet fix also or maybe even earlier.

Stacking the food effects is intended :slight_smile:

Well, maybe not that much of a problem, but I just wondered why my worker is walking all the way around if they have the stockpile next to them, and it became clear that they just need to stand in front of it to pick items from it, like this:

They should also be able to access it from the left and right.

I don’t see it in your screenshot, but I guess there is a work station to the left of it?
