Colossal Adamantine Drill: What materials you need to build & run (for newbies)

You completed all of the research in the research tree, deleted the Research Lab (because you don’t need it anymore), and it time to build a Colossal Adamantine Drill … what does it take?

Building comes in phases, and the player never gets to see the material requirements for subsequent phases. IOW, once you complete one phase, does InfraSpace show you the next material requirement. (e.g. After sending all 2000 Electronics & 1500 Nanotubes, do you find out that you need to send in Neural Processors & Iridium Alloy.),

  1. 10,000 Concrete + 3,200 Steel
  2. 2,000 Electronics + 1500 Nanotubes
  3. 400 Neural Processors + 200 Ir Alloy
  4. 300 AI Control Units + 200 Ir Propellants

Once built, it employs 70 colonists & requires 60MW. To mine 1 unit of Adamantine, 3 Red Science + 5 Ir Propellants are needed.

Thank you very much, I put this info up on the wiki!

Not so sure that’s a good idea. In my 2nd game, which was also played w. the Trains update version, got these numbers,

  1. 10,000 Concrete + 3,200 Steel
  2. 2,000 Electronics + 2,000 Steel
  3. 1,000 Microchips + 500 Nanotubes
  4. 400 Neural Processors + 200 Ir Alloy
  5. 300 AI Control Units + 200 Ir Propellants

So either I wrote something down wrong the 1st time, OR some of these values are variables & can change from game to game.

No problem, I’ll be building the drill in the traffic lights update soon, and I’ll confirm the numbers.

I built the drill in the traffic lights update, the numbers I got are now on the wiki

10,000 Concrete and 3,200 Steel
2,000 Electronics and 2,000 Steel
1,000 Microchips and 500 Nanotubes
300 AI Control Units and 200 Iridium Propellant

Interesting. Are you sure the Neural Processors & Ir Propellent didn’t come up? As in maybe you walked away from your computer for a while, while that was delivered.

Asking because I distinctly saw requests for 400 + 200, respectively, each time that I built the drill.

I’m pretty sure neural processors used to be required before the traffic lights update, but aren’t anymore. I recorded the above numbers as the drill was being built so I’m confident in them. I will be confirming them however, as I’m currently working on a second drill.

I was wrong. I don’t know how I missed the neural processors. I built some more drills and triple-checked the numbers:

10,000 Concrete and 3,200 Steel (building cost)
2,000 Electronics and 2,000 Steel
1,000 Microchips and 500 Nanotubes
400 Neural Processors and 200 Iridium Alloy
300 AI Control Units and 200 Iridium Propellant

Thanks for confirming.
